Victory in Campaign to save St Davids Secondary School from Closure.

I am sure if you have ever visited St Davids you will have noticed, as far as cities go, it’s SMALL!  Indeed as many will remind you it is Britain’s smallest of cities.  Plans to close our secondary school, therefore, were seen by many local people to be catastrophic to the well being and vitality of St Davids itself.  Four generations of my family (so far) have gone to Ysgol Dewi Sant. My grandfather, back in the very early days of its very existence attended, regularly bringing beer to school; “is that beer Evans?”, “no sir, its tea sir” (don’t judge, it was the 1910’s and he had been up since 5am milking cows!).  My dad and aunt attended (less beer drinking, more hockey and rugby playing). Storm

We had a big storm with some high winds a few weeks back.  This is a video compiled from a few videos that both dad (Wyn), and I (Linda) shot over the space of about an hour.  A lesson learnt (hopefully) that you shouldn’t keep your kayaks on the beach once autumn really starts to kick in.  Apologies for the shaky camera work… it was windy! Lely robot at Caerfai.

We have been using the Lely robotic milking machine for just over a year now.  Each cow wears a collar which identifies them – the robot detects whether they need milking or not.  It also holds their personal info (their weight, how old they are, their body stats!) The cows get a good feed whilst they are being milked. Graham (the herdsman) and Dad get a detailed account of how much milk each cow is producing. A time-lapse film of the cows in action…
