Due to a late cancellation our Stable cottage and our Barn cottage are vacant from June 18th -25th.

Potato picking video in stunning hi-def. . . possibly

The last blog post mentioned that our new potato crop (Colleen variety) would be ready for picking by the end of May. Well it’s the end of May and they are ready so we thought we’d pick them. (I’m using the royal ‘we’ as I haven’t actually picked any. . . yet)

I shall therefore attempt to attach some video of the picking in full swing for all those interested. The filming, incidentally, was carried out by dad (Wyn) multi tasking, as he was also the tractor driver.

This years crop of our organically produced potatoes are coming on well. Here are some pics from our ’new potato’ crop which were dug up this morning. (Wyn has helpfully included a roll of ptfe tape, always useful on a farm, to help with scale!) All being well these potatoes will be market ready by the end of May.

Our old website was created in the early days of the internet and had served us well for many years. However, it was finally time to have a complete make-over!

We have worked hard to convey the special place that is Caerfai Farm. We are right on the Pembrokeshire coast and, whilst the weather isn’t always quite as spectacular as the views in our photographs, even when it’s not at its best, the scenery remains amazing at any time of year.

We hope that visitors old and new will enjoy our new website and of course, we would love to have your comments on the site. Also, if you have stayed with us why not get in touch and share your holiday highlights? Feel free to contact us or pop a comment in the box below.

There’s always something going on at Caerfai, for example, we have just installed a brand new robotic milking system! So we’ll be posting regular updates here, now that our new website has a built-in blog, so do bookmark us and check back for updates.
